Are you in Christ?

"It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with Him, we shall also live with Him." 2Timothy 2:11

The claim of so many people in the world today that it is not "religion" that saves, but the good life one lives, because they share the notion that "one religion is just as good as another" is deceitful.

Many religious people share a portion of that idea, in that they think, if one lives a good life, God will approve and save that person.

As I talk with people about becoming Christians, making it clear that no matter how good we think we are, we just cannot live good enough to save ourselves.

To one who has a basic understanding of the need for the cross of Christ, it should be obvious that morality is not enough to save anyone.

If morality, man's goodness, were sufficient to save, there would have been no need for Christ and the cross!

The Apostle Paul rightly stated that if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died in vain.

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which i now live in the flesh i live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2:20.

If salvation were by our goodness, then Christ died in vain!

The truth is, we all have sinned, and we cannot by our own works atone for even one sin we have committed.

The Bible says that it is only in Jesus that salvation can be found in.

"Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12

If we are saved at all, it will be "in Christ".

Our works will not save, but Christ can.

Only Christ can save.

Make no mistake about that. It is necessary that we live a good life, but that life must be lived "in Christ Jesus" if we expect the blessings of God.

Christ is the greatest gift of God to man and it is only in Him that we have salvation. That means, no matter how good we may be or how good we may live, if we are not "in Christ" we are not saved.

"For we are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." Colossians 3:3
